  16. I've been monitoring this news group for a few weeks now.  Please excuse
  17. me if these questions have come up before.

  19. We are having two problems with xdvi.  The package compiles fine, but there
  20. are two run time problems:

  22. 1.  The fonts look funny when the page is zoomed out, like they are faded
  23. or something.  I thought something was wrong with the "density" value.
  24. I tried overwriting the value with command line options, but it didn't
  25. seem to work.  Also I tried modifying it with the 'S' runtime
  26. keystroke which also had no effect.  When the page is zommed in as far
  27. as it can go, the fonts look fine.

  29. 2.  It takes a REALLY LONG TIME for it to run (about 1-2 full minutes to
  30. pop up the X window).  If I reset my XDVIFONTS environment variable to
  31. /usr/local/lib/texmf/fonts then it starts up quicker, but then it thinks
  32. that it needs to run MakeTeXPK to create some fonts, only to find out
  33. that the fonts have already been created.
